We anchor the vertical support posts in concrete so the deck is firmly in place and use only the best pressure treated wood so that you can have years of enjoyment without worrying.

In this recent project, the owner had paid a handyman to replace dozens of slats of wood on the deck on his home around six years ago. The problem was that the handyman used non-pressure treated wood. Because the family has large dogs, the stain wore down quickly, exposing the wood to rain which softened it. In some places, the owner had even used hardening putty to cover the nails so they would not injure the dogs' paws. As you can see in the image on the right, we took off each piece and examined them to sort the good wood from the weathered wood. The weather damaged wood was integrated in with the good wood, thereby preserving around a third of the deck which did not need to be replaced, saving the owners hundreds of dollars. We explained to the owners that the new wood would need four to six months to cure because the chemicals injected into it in the pressure treating process would naturally result in the wood repelling the stain. Of course, we will be returning to re-stain all of the deck when the new wood has cured. Needless to say, the owners were elated! They now have a deck that will last them for years to come and will not have to worry about moisture degradation of the wood ever again.
